About Rocket Yarn My name is Celena and I am the one woman show behind Rocket Yarn. I live in Lake City, FL with my husband, two boys, four dogs, seven chickens and a cat. Hubby says if I build the fence I can add some sheep to the crew. Maybe an angora goat and an alpaca or two eventually. We respect the earth and live as naturally as we can. We reduce, reuse and recycle. We grow our own fruits and vegetables and have free range eggs from our chickens. My husband and I are engineers but my dream is to one day turn Rocket Yarn into a brick and mortar shop that sells fine yarn and fibers as well as other crafting supplies and has a huge focus on education. My shop will have a great classroom where crafters can come and learn about things such as knitting, crochet, spinning, felting, yarn and fiber dyeing, tie-dye, shibori dyeing, etc. I am an artist, not a production dyer. I dye in methods as opposed to colorways. I see a blank skein of yarn or braid of fiber as a blank canvas waiting to be turned into something beautiful. I have my own method of dyeing which I call "Plasma Dip". This method has developed over time and is what has made me a successful yarn and fiber dyer. You may see something in my shop that says "plasma dip blues". This means I dyed this item in my plasma dip method with a base color of blue. When I start a dyeing session, I pick a base color. All yarn and fiber dyed in that session will be blue ... of some sort. The way I dye and add colors as I go along allows me great creativity and turns out some beautiful dye jobs. If you see something you like, grab it now because it will never be exactly repeated. I'm currently dabbling in wet felting and am excited about the possibility of adding a line of hand felted art home decor products such as felted bowls and centerpieces, rugs and wall art to my shop.
